Guardianship
LifeStream views guardianship only as a last resort. When the client is at risk, whether it be health or financial, an application may be made to the Court to nominate a guardian for the person. Guardianship should only be applied when the client can no longer make his own rational decisions, which may be due to Alzheimer's disease or some other medical condition.
Family members may serve as guardians as well as LifeStream's Gary Elias, Esq. Mr. Elias has trained and has a certificate from the New York State Bar Association enabling him to become a court appointed guardian under the New York State Law Article 81 Guardianship proceedings. Mr. Elias also serves on the Guardianship Fiduciary Committee of the New York Bar Association. In addition, Mr. Elias can provide consultation and support to any family member who becomes a guardian. Mr. Elias will instruct the newly appointed guardian on the duties and responsibility of guardianship.
